BACK TO SCHOOL AFTER TET HOLIDAY

Hey! I’m Jenny. How was your Tet holiday?

I had an enjoyable trip before Tet. When I got back from that trip, I helped my parents clean the house and decorated it with beautiful flowers. Lunar New Year is Vietnam’s most significant celebration. Across Vietnam, during this time families reunite and honor their ancestors, while praying for good luck, lasting prosperity and perfect health in the new year. The public holiday may only run for one week, but in reality, Tet celebrations last much longer. My mom was very busy during that time, so I tried to help her as much as possible. And it also reminded me of the teachers at Flamingo Language Institute of how busy they were when they decorated the school by themselves. They tried to make handmade decorations for Tet. The school was full of Tet atmosphere, and it was so cozy. They also prepared a new lesson about Tet holiday to help us to get to know more about our traditional holiday. I learned some new words such as “Square glutinous rice cake”, “Sticky rice cake”, “Five-fruit tray”, “Lion dance”.  I was so excited and felt grateful for this meaningful lesson.

After Tet, our teachers also prepared lesson plans to create a joyful, exciting atmosphere, and easy-to-understand lessons to attract their students to learn. The school spent 15 minutes at the beginning of each class to welcome all students on the first day back to school, January 30. And the teachers also gave all students “Lucky stickers”. I promise myself, I will try my best to learn, to improve my English skills. Why don’t you join me? I am sure you will love it. I’m here and wait for you at Flamingo Language Institute!
